The Central Colorado FoodShed Alliance (CCFA)

The Central Colorado FoodShed Alliance (CCFA) is a grassroots cooperative that connects farmers, ranchers, food artisans and craft makers with the local community. Our mission is to help facilitate a thriving local food economy and a healthy, happy, sustainable future. We manage the Farmers Markets in Buena Vista and Salida, Colorado and we throw a celebration of local food, called ShedFest, at the end of each season. Look for our Guide to Local Food at farmer friendly retailers around the region.

Mission Statement:

Central Colorado Foodshed Alliance (CCFA) is a cooperative organization created to stimulate and support the local food economy in our Foodshed. CCFA works to unite local producers with community members, provide education about the value of local food and foster a vibrant local economy while promoting productive open space and sustainability.

The CCFA was formed in 2007 by a diverse group of citizens in Chaffee County, Colorado. After many discussions, the group’s mission became clearly defined. With the help of the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and a USDA rural economic development grant, the CCFA was able to begin several projects in the first year of operation. Now those projects are self-sustaining. The CCFA continues to develop more services to support and foster the local food economy and community well-being.
