It’s been a busy two weeks for CCFA and the farmers markets!  Last week, Vino Salida (vendor feature below), sold their first bottle of wine ever at the Salida Farmer’s Market!  We’ve also had the pleasure to enjoy an increase of fruit: cherries, peaches, and apricots!  Corn has made an appearance at market as well!  So if you’ve missed the market recently, make sure to stop by and enjoy the bounty of the season!

Vendor Feature: Vino Salida Wine Cellars

Vino Salida Wine Cellars sold their first bottles of wine last week at the Salida Market.  We thought this was the perfect time to write a feature about them on our blog and share their story!  Especially since this event not only marked the first wine sales at the Salida Farmers Market, but Vino Salida Wine Cellars’ first wine sales ever.

Steve Flynn, Vino Salida Wine Cellars owner, has been sharing information about his wine at the Salida market all season. Last week he was finally able to sell his first wine, Smelter Stomp,  a 2009 Merlot.

Smelter Stomp was made in Smeltertown with grapes from Palisade, Colorado that were  hand picked and foot stomped by local community members last fall, making it a truly local wine.

Steve Flynn has been working with Colorado grown wines for a while now.  He started working for Mountain Spirit Winery in 2002 and has been bringing in grapes from Palisade to make his own creations since 2003.  Vino Salida Wine Cellars has been in business since 2009 and is excited to get to share its wines with the community.  The Smelter Stomp Merlot is the only wine currently available; however Vino Salida Wine Cellars will be releasing more varieties in the next 3 months and even more this winter.  Future varieties include a Vino Rosso, Vino Bianco, Viognier, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.  Come to the Salida Market to learn more about Vino Salida Wine Cellars and to purchase some Smelter Stomp Merlot!
