Individuals, businesses, food producers and consumers—everyone plays a role in the local food economy, and everyone has a place in Central Colorado Foodshed Alliance (CCFA, a member-supported cooperative created to stimulate and support the local food economy.
Within our local foodshed—the area within 100 miles of Salida, Colorado—CCFA works to unite producers and consumers, provide education about the value of local food and foster a vibrant local economy while promoting productive open space and sustainability.
Our foodshed alliance provides many resources to help members reach these goals. The Salida, Buena Vista and Cañon City farmers markets, the Guide to Local Food and an active website foster relationships between neighbors, especially the farmers and ranchers who produce local food and the consumers who need healthy food choices. Community workshops, the Reel to Real Film Series and educational events provide exposure to local and global food issues.
ShedFest, our annual harvest celebration, and our annual membership banquet highlight the vibrancy of our community and inspire new ideas.
